Cinnamon Bun Baked Oats

Cinnamon Bun Baked Oats

As the leaves turn golden and the mornings get chillier, there’s nothing quite like a warm, hearty breakfast to start the day off right. Here at The Great British Porridge Co., we’re all about creating simple, nourishing moments that bring joy to your mornings. That’s why we’re thrilled to share our new recipe for Cinnamon Swirl Bun Baked Oats, made using our instant oat mixes. It’s a perfect combination of comfort, flavour, and ease that’s bound to become your autumn staple.

Our Cinnamon Swirl Baked Oats bring the perfect touch of warmth and cosiness to your kitchen. The delicate aroma of cinnamon wafts through the air as you bake this treat, creating a homely atmosphere that’s perfect for those slow, relaxed mornings or an afternoon pick-me-up. The best part? You only need a handful of ingredients, including our instant oat mix, to whip up this autumn-inspired delight.

Ingredients You’ll Need:

For the main baked oats:

  • 100g of The Great British Porridge Co's Apple & Cinnamon Oats
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tbsp of plant based yoghurt
  • 230ml of oat milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp of Maple Syrup
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • A pinch of salt

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

  • 1 large tbsp of date paste (this can be subbed for brown sugar)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp Almond Butter
  • Splash of plant based milk to loosen

For the topping:

  • 1 tbsp of plant based cream cheese
  • 2 tsp maple syrup
  • pinch of salt
  • Splash of plant based milk to loosen

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a small round ovenproof dish or ramekin.
  2. Mix the batter: In a mixer, combine the oats, banana, milk, vanilla extract, maple syrup, cinnamon, baking powder and salt. Give it a good blast, pause and stir to make sure everything is well combined.
  3. Pour into the dish: Transfer the mixture to your prepared baking dish and smooth out the top with the back of a spoon.
  4. Add the swirl: For an extra cinnamon kick, make the cinnamon swirl above and pipe it with an icing bag (or use a toothpick or knife) to create gentle swirls.
  5. Bake: Pop it in the oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Finish: For that next level bun, mix up the topping with some vegan soft cheese, a teaspoon of maple syrup and some salt. Add some milk until it become more of a liquid glaze consistency.
  7. Serve: Pour on your topping and let it cool for a couple of minutes before digging in.

Tips for Customising Your Baked Oats:

  • Switch up the flavours: Try using different flavours of our instant oat mix for a unique twist each time. Our High Protein, Low Sugar mix adds an extra nutty flavour!
  • Add-ins: Mix in chopped nuts, raisins, or apple chunks for added texture and flavour.
  • Dairy-free version: We've opted to use dairy free ingredients, but you can sub any of the above for your own choices of similar ingredients.

We hope you enjoy making and savouring this Cinnamon Swirl Baked Oats recipe as much as we do. It’s the perfect way to turn an ordinary morning into a moment of seasonal bliss.
